Description:

On October 19, 2006 at 04:22 pm EDT the National Response Center received a report of a 90,000 gallon release of Raffinate; a mixture of 5.5 grams per liter of sulfuric acid and various metals. The release was due to equipment failure of a 24 inch mining pipeline. The incident occurred at 08:20 am MST on October 19, 2006 at the Silver Bell Mining site in Marana, Arizona. There were no reports of injuries, fatalities, or evacuations. No waterways were affected. The release has been secured and clean-up is underway.
